tbb meter not working

Hi, I have been using tbb meter for a long time but this morning it would not autostart as normal. Tried manual start, didn't work. Checked McAfee, not apparently blocked. Running Windows 7. Uninstalled meter and loader service and reinstalled v.0.9.8.4 but it failed when trying to set up loader service..."error 1001 Specified service already exists" Help please!

What did you do to uninstall the loader service.

When the meter started, did it show its normal splash screen? Did the tbbmeter.log file that is in the same folder as the exe have any entries from the time when you tried to last run it?

If tbbloaderservice.exe is present, and tbbmeter.exe is present, then from the cmd prompt try

net stop tbbloaderservice
followed by
net start tbbloaderservice

When you did a manual start, did a UAC (User Account Control) window appear?

I have once more uninstalled and reinstalled today. When I first uninstalled, a few days ago, the iposure software was also installed which I also uninstalled. Not sure if this was necessary? Now, when started manually UAC window appears, Net Connex, then the tbb meter loader setup wizard appears. The loader starts but then the error message appears and wizard rolls back. I tried the cmd prompt to stop ttbloaderservice but says service not started.

Sorry, not logged in with last reply. Also I uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller.

Have no idea what Revo uninstaller will have done.

In the tbbmeter folder is there a tbbLoaderService.exe

The fact the app runs and trys to run the install for that, suggests it is not there.

There error is because the service name is already registered, you can manually remove this from an administrator command prompt using the command line

sc delete tbbLoaderService

Every time i logon a purple horizontal Thinkbroadband splash comes up, lasting more time than i can afford.

Can anyone list the steps needed to prevent this occurring at STARTUP time?

to
<ShowSplash>false</ShowSplash>
