Differences in speedtest results.

[link to this post]

I have enncountered a problem with the online speedtester. I have just moved to the 50Mb Virgin cable service, and have run a couple of speedtests. One,from a wired desktop PC shows the tbb download speed to be around the 20Mb mark, with http at around 54Mb. A test immediately afterwards from a wifi connected laptop shows the tbb to also be at 54Mb. What is the interpretation of this ... is there something wrong with my wired connection or computer? Links to graphs below:

Wifi -> http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html...

Many thanks,
Dave.

Different computers in both tests?

The tbb test can be impacted by things like flash version or operating system or browser. The disparity is not seen by most other testers because they do just the HTTP type test. Doing both tests allows most people to spot when contention/congestion is affecting their line.

Doh! Of course it is. Just been changing hard disks and got the units in my head.

Would be nice though ...

At least you got your problem solved smile.

However, this isn't the best place for speed test queries. They are little to do with tbbMeter.

With FTTC the best forum is probably the Fibre Broadband one.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 58.7/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
