i am abroad few months (down to Greece) and there is an adsl connection.
I have in use an Asus N55U which i have updated with a new firmware.
In the new firmware they have add a spectrum with an SNR Graph and i am not that expert to read it
My main question ... Will you kind experts let me know if is any good connection according to the graph?
(screen shot taken around midnight so day may vary)
Less important ...
With the N55U un-tweaked will show line attenuator 45 db & will lock at around 10mb (actual speed 8-9 mb)
Tweaked the stability adjustment to +5 will show attenuator 37 db and will lock around 12-13mb (actual speed 10,5 - 11,3 mb)
A draytek will show line attenuator sometimes 33 db & sometimes 37 and the provider modem when was with a caped adsl at 2 mb will show 29-35 db
So my second question is: The speed OK?
Modulation : ADSL2+
Annex Mode : Annex A/L
Line State : up
Lan Tx : 1134673
Lan Rx : 679501
ADSL Tx : 8968
ADSL Rx : 1084300
CRC Down : 0
CRC Up : 40
FEC Down : 0
FEC Up : 91
HEC Down : 66
HEC Up : 044
SNR Up : 9.3
SNR Down : 8.1
Line Attenuation Up : 22.4
Line Attenuation Down : 37.3
Data Rate Up : 1015
Data Rate Down : 12575
SNR from isp is set at 9 db but sometimes falls down to 6 & back up to 8-9 db
The dslam is Broadcom ... if i get broadcom modem such billion 7800(tweak via secret menu) /netgear dgn2200 v3 (tweak via custom firmware) or billion 7700n(tweak via telnet), will get higher rate than the asus even if the isp has the SNR locked at 9db? as they matching better each other the dslam?
Note the n55u has not changed the SNR tweak values which is set at 9 db but it did increased the speed about 2-3 mb
(n55u appears as trent/ralink)
The draytek 2830n does not take tweaks but is locking as it is with 10.5 - 11.5 mb
