sky slow loading/ not loading at all some sites

[link to this post]

I've been having issues loading some sites on our internet connection. Originally we were with O2 however they were taken over by sky. Since they switched me over I been having issues loading some sites. My sister was complaining that tumblr wouldn't work today. I can load most sites I visit though. At one point I couldn't load Microsoft Home Page. The dns appears to be fine but the site takes ages to load / times out.
Could there be something on my end that's causing this

if DNS lookup is fast and consistent, particularly for sites you have never visited (routers tend to cache common sites to make things faster) then could be a routing issue well beyond your connection.

Have you tried switching to different DNS servers on one or two of the computers?

How would I do that?
You mean in this

I did try swapping sky's dns for a public dns via my router but didn't help. i.e. instead of getting it from sky use a particular one.

It couldn't be a routing problem with my setup could it?
I use a netgear as a modem which is then connected to a wan port of the wnr3500L which runs ddwrt . This is because I plan to host my own site on a proper separated DMZ.

Just tried arduino.cc and that is loading extremely slowly. But dns seems to be fine as I did a ping and it resolved quickly

I take it that the following traceroute indicates there's a routing issue beyond my connection?

However everything seems to works fine when I access the internet via a proxy provided by the tor project.
