upgraded to infinity not seeing major improvements

[link to this post]

Originally I had adsl2+ with o2, I was fine but grinds
to a halt when three of us are streaming videos off the net. My fibre has just been
activated. We have a streaming device which stream Chinese channel and it tells u what speed its downloading at. I don't see dramatic improvements if any. However am I correct in saying we should all be able to stream stuff off the net more comfortably I.e. the throughput is higher yes?

What does a speed test say your speeds are like

Videos are normally encoded at a certain bit rate, and even if your connection is several times faster than that it may not run any smoother picture wise, and depending on their delivery mechanism may still be prone to buffering.

A lot will depend on where in the world the Chinese stream is served from too.

Just to give you an idea, the download speed is 36 - 37 MB and upload is 9mb
So I don't think I can complain LOL. Plus I uploaded 1.6GB is about 1/2 hr lol.

Thanks Mr saffron you're very helpful despite my questions are usually stupid.
Am a computer programmer who's not familiar with data comms. I found it very very boring at uni.
So boring I fell asleep during my lecture on data comms lol.

Looks likely then issue is the source streams e.g. on my line NOW TV maxes out at 3.5 Mbps even in HD

If the Chinese streams originate from a far east server the extra latency will also not be helping
