Re: Openreach cabinet 19, Holmewood, Chesterfield

Youíve been so helpful! I walked the dog to check the cabinets after checking locations. Thereís no obvious fire damage from the outside of the cabinets. I thought escalating the issue to U.K. CEO may help expedite the issue but Iíve just ended up with another person telling me that Openreach havenít given a date when the cabinet will be replaced. Iíve asked them why am only I affected and what has actually happened as I canít see that the cabinets have been vandalised at all and theyíre just keep repeating themselves. I just going to be a nuisance and perhaps stalk the odd Openreach engineer 😆.

The DSLAM cabinet suffered extensive fire damage on The 21/5 which melted the passive (copper Side) of the cabinet inside.
The entire cabinet was reshelled and all copper and fibre terminations replaced. Power was permanently restored around the 25/5. All connections should be restored. You need to chase your ISP to progress the fault with openreach as the fire incident is closed.

Just a bit of "reputational backup" Hullabalou47, seeing as you've just joined. (Though you may have been watching for a while of course). From his considerable authoritative posting history you can be certain that witchunt isn't guessing.

Edit: But! Don't start quoting him direct or linking to this thread when chasing any branch of BT/Openreach or your ISP. Just something like that you've been asking around the neighbourhood and found there was a fire but the cabinet got replaced within days which is why everyone but you now has their FTTC working. (I know it sounds like its insides were OK so didn't need replacing, but a re-shelled cabinet looks new).

We don't want a valuable source of such information disappearing from here, the way some earlier ones have, due to being identified.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. 200GB. Sync 70370/12780Kbps @ 600m. BQMs - IPv4 & IPv6

Did search for arson in the area, and did not find anything quickly about the cabinet fibre, but area seems to have had an arsonist playing havoc recently.

Oh wow! Thank you so much 😍. The date it happened I had Openreach parked right across my drive way & then I saw them over the road on and off for a few days after. Vodafone are shocking. Donít worry I wonít post anything to disclose this conversation/source of info. Bizarrely enough, I DID have full connection last night for the first time. You lot are gems 💎
