Noise :(

[link to this post]

I have switched interleaving off on my line, I need lower pings on online gaming and I am now happy with those - 16ms to jolt and bbc.

My problem is at 10:30pm my line is getting attacked by noise.

I am running a DG834GT on an ALCB dslam. The line will happily run at 5.6Mb during the day (it can go faster if I want to tweak it) and at around 10pm the latency and jitter starts to rise as the noise margin starts to drop.

The SNR drops to about 4-4.5db at about 10pm and the connection starts to struggle.

At around 10:30 it goes completely from 4db to resync.

Strange. The router stats graph looks steady and then suddenly bombs and the connection re-syncs.

I dropped the sync to 5280kbps and that runs at 6db snr yet the line is still suffering jitter and peaks in latency.

How can I stop this without putting interleaving on and dropping the sync speed?

If you would like to see DMT graphs or router stats graphs please ask.

Cheers.

Depending on the source of the noise, you may be able to do something about it. For example, is it a light coming on? Dishwasher? Some electrical device? You may be able to tell from the times on the SNR graph. If you can determine what tones are affected, you may be able to hear the interference on a MW radio.
