Netgear DG834g v5 Router Stats

[link to this post]

Hey, just got my Netgear DG834g v5, stats are below.

Current Training Status : Showtime
Current trained adsl mode : ADSL2+
Current trained adsl path : fast
Downstream Bit Rate : 22972904
Downstream Noise Margin : 4.55 dB
Downstream Attenuation : 5.0 dB
Upstream Bit Rate : 1024000
Upstream Noise Margin : 6.0 dB
Upstream Attenuation : 17.0 dB

Last time i spoke to customer service they said they put a cap on my line at the above synch rate, so i will try to contact Dan to see if he will remove it, so i can see what my line can really do.

they were usually around 21.5meg down and same up, when i got put on fast path my highest sync was the one in the stats above but the UKOnline rep put a cap on the line and i can't go any higher.

I'm going to try and get in touch with Dan on Monday to see if he will remove the cap and see how much higher i can sync.

What cap are you talking about??? Your stats indicate you are getting as good as the most possible from an ADSL2+ connection.

I was told that UKOnline only said upto 22meg as most peoples lines would not go the full ADSL2+ 24meg, but if your line is capable of it, it would go past the 22meg UKOnline stated.

your upstream stats look poor for your line on 2 accounts.

(a) the upstream attenuation is higher than your downstream attenuation, not sure what that is about.
(b) your upload sync and noise margin stats are worse than mine and I have a 49db line.

your downstream looks like it is already pushed hard on a 4.5db noise margin. So you will probably have to ask for something like a 3db margin to get more speed out of it.

On my other router Netgear DG834g v3 it reported my downstream attenuation as 17db and my upstream attenuation as 4db, so I'm thinking the v5 must report it wrong.

You are syncing at more than 22Mb...... What is your point?

A lot about the stats posted and talk of a cap is making no sense.
