Pipex problems

My internet connection keeps dropping.

Pipex say it could be the extension lead coming from the main socket. Im using a usb modem.

If i but a wireless router will this help?

It could be, as its a USB modem it could also be a USB issue with the PC. Many things, so as suggested try the technical sections.

USB modems are so old, that you should really get an Etherent or wireless based router these days.

It could also be that the exchange end of your service has recently change, Pipex belonged to Tiscali and I think most Tiscali customers are being moved to TalkTalk equipment where possible. What exchange is it?

If so, an old modem may not be compatible with the new equipment, though perhaps updating its drivers might help.

As others have said, a new cheap (wireless) modem/router sounds a good idea.

I use a TD-W8960 TP-LINK adsl router that was less than £50. I agree with the others, move to an external router.
