BT Business Broadband

[link to this post]

Hi,

We've got BT Business Broadband in the Liverpool L8 area and basically more often than not it doesn't work!

We've had every possible type of engineer do every possible test and still the problem persists. Basically we're unable to get online then it comes back on then goes off again!

Anyone else had any problems or know any solutions??

Thanks in advance!

Also, get a copy of RouterStatsLite and run that for 24 hours and get a plot of SNR and Sync speed - host the image and post a link.

Then get a screen shot of the <Settings> / <Diagnostics> / <DSL> page from te router. That will show the last 20 sync/loss of sync/resync events.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I will do as you said and post the results. In the meantime I forgot to mention that the problem seems to lie with the bandwidth, or so it appears. If one or two of us are using the internet then the connection is fast and constant, but when all our staff are using the internet at the same time (up to 10 people) then this is when the connection will slow right down before completely dropping/losing connection. It seems to happen more or less at the same time on each computer, although some computers will be able to establish a connection for short periods of time.

BT tested the line and said it is supporting 8mb so I would think 10 computers is fine. We only do order processing etc. Nothing too demanding. BT also ran a test and reported line degradation. Although they found this fault remotely, each engineer just seems to come out and scratch their head not knowing what else to do.

Thanks so much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

What is your EXACT set up? Modem/Router, Switches, Hubs, PCs and how are they connected?

The diagnostics page on the 2700 may also shed some light if you can pull that off.

Hi,

It is connected to a hub which also handles all the telephones. From this hub a cable goes to a switch. Only one ethernet goes in to the router. The only other cable in the router is the dsl.

some computers are wireless and most ethernet, but it will happen even when there are no wireless.

Thank you.
