My Broadband Speed has Crashed..

Hi All,

With Tak Talk.

I was getting 6-7Mb download speeds until the end (26th) of November.

Since then I can only get a fairly consistent 1.9Mb

No idea why as nothing(?) has changed at my end.

Can try and post some stats if required.

Anyone help?

When did you turn the Christmas lights on? On when did the neighbours?

Xmas lights were not put on until last night (I know about that one...)

New neighbours moved in about the same time. Their lights only came on in the last few days

You are getting full whack on your connection and should be getting about 6.6 Meg throughput, as you did. Anything lower is down to congestion at exchange or your iSP's network.

How come you are only on ADSL Max with TT? Are you out of their LLU area? What exchange?

I'm on the Scalloway (Shetland Islands) exchange. No LLU yet (as far as I know).

I have a gut feeling that TT are deliberately throttling connections around here.

Speeds for the last 4/5 weeks have been c1.9Mb.

Seriously thinking of switching providers.

BT resold products, not good so matter where in the uk you happen to live, unless via a reseller, but then you are subjected usage caps on most of them simply because ist's not viable (from a business perspective ) due to BT wholesale's pricing , = Isp's Available peering bandwidth
That how ever should not mean that you get lower throughput than what your liner is able to normally support, Dependant up on sync speed achieved by the router ,at the time of sync

There could well be be other factors that are unrelated to your ISP or it's provided service or even it's supplier (BT wholesale) could be a case of x mas tree lights introducing noise into your line ,Which in turn will cause the BT wholesale controlled DLM to adjust the noise margin-s usually increasing them, which in turn will lower the obtainable sync speed and of course the throughput (the speed that is available to end user)
Not a good situation and trying to get this over ridden by your ISP tt is going to be impossible as you are not on their own LLU network
I'm sorry for the negative outlook to your post but it's an honest one based on what i know, hope it help's in some way or other , you could how ever post the router stats here for us to mull over to see exactly what is occurring

Has the neighbour got a big (ZB)off PLASMA tv ,(A well known source of RF& other related interference) also do they also have a bb service on their line? ( could be X Talk) although not normally if it is then BT openreach should be compelled o fix this sort of thing, should they wish to charge any isp for adsl services on such pairs that are clearly not suitable for ADSL , but that is another story but it does need to be adressed by BT at some point (IMHO it should have been done at least 10years ago) But who an i to judge bt ? I know nothing , i wish BTW (ZB) = A Derogative swear word

Right, the problem here is more than likely a stuck 2Meg IP Profile (I have seen them popping up a lot lately and with that throughput, you more than likely have one). You need to contact your ISP to get the Profile reset.
