fed up withTalk Talk problem for 14 days now

Any advice welcome...

1st post on here,

I have always had around 1.7meg to 3meg download speed in this house for last 2 years with Talk Talk.
Suddenly gone down to 0.35meg if i am lucky at most times.
Bought new router TP-LINK TD-W891ND Wireless N ADSL2+ (no change)
before had the original Tiscali Router
New ADSL Filters (no change)
Had BT Line TEST done, come back ok (no change)
Bought BT IPlate fitted 2 weeks ago
Emailed & phoned Talk Talk, told me to unplug all phones for 5 days...lol
Still not improved, now telling me, to make sure Router is in main BT Socket leave for 72hours then contact Talk Talk again... done this
Still only getting on speedtest.net - Ping 55 - download 0.35 to 0.65meg MAX doing 6 tests a day, still same result.

any help much apreciated
Is it a BT problem, as they are fitting Green cabinets in my area? But not yet my road.
Or just Talk Talk problem, but with them, i might aswell talk talk to the wall!

Just did a test on Bt Speedchecker result 0.20megs download, think i will go back to a 56k modem...lol

Ok you are being stupid now.

Where it is reasonable to ask for them you can, the time when you were told no need was because there was a good cause.

I'll give you a hint, take a break for a few days and come back refreshed

Is this Talktalk llu or their rented off BT service? The rented off BT service is known for connecting to local exchange at a reasonable speed, but congestion on the small backhaul that talktalk rent causing problems.

In either case the stats from your router, which http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php should help people figure out what is going on.

I am sure the going to dialup was flippant, but just in case dial up is only 0.05Megs, so four times worse still.

Found this site, and thought more than likely get help here, rather than keep phoning Talk Talk

That site may help you to get your stats, but the best thing is that it emphasises what stats you're looking for

The details you are looking for are:


~ Sync Speed (Connection Speed)
~ Attenuation (atten)
~ SNR Margin (Noise Margin, Margin)
~ Details of any CRC/HEC errors or errored seconds may also be helpful

not sure , been with them for 4 years, well it was Tiscali upto 8 meg broadband, then it became Talk Talk, been with them in this house for 2 years...
Still on upto 8meg package, but that prob does not answer your question...

That link gives information on how to get the stats from most routers, but not yours.

A little more research suggests

http://192.168.1.1 is the web pages in the router itself and on entering the admin username, and the password is also admin if you left it at its default.

you are taken to Status page that will the SNR Margin, Line Attenuation, Data Rate, Max Rate and power, tell us all of them for both downstream and upstream. (Best grabbed after restarting router, and waiting for the numbers to make sense, i.e. show a data rate that is not zero.
