BT blocking my sending 100 emails

[link to this post]

For more than a month I have been trying to get BT to lift some block that is preventing my sending 100 identical emails out to my Basset Hound Walking group (think about that for a moment, dear Readers). For years I never had any problem - it was sent out once a month from Thunderbird. The cause may have been that a friend foolishly completed a false BT re-signing email allowing his address book - and maybe my name - to be added to the spam list. I have emailed and spoken to most of BT's sub-continent dozens of times and they all go round in circles promising solutions but with no result. Last time I posted a moan here about BT an excellent BT specialist in I think N.I. picked this up and sorted it out swiftly. I hope you are reading this, please! I have tried changing my IP address but this doesn't work. I can send from my wife's laptop, eventually, which has a different email address of course, but this is not what I want. Ideas - and BT Northern Ireland, please help.

Short term - does splitting into two batches help?

Just the kind of thing a Yahoo group is good for.

Well I have thought of that, but as it has worked for 4 years, ie more than 40 times - I'm perverse enough to think that BT should be able to solve the problem. BT took over my PC and went through T'Bird and agreed with me that it has nowt to with this, and many others have siad that while there is a limit this is more than 200 at any one time. The problem is definietly with the ISP, I am convinced of that. What is so annoying is that everytime someone from BT contacts me we have to go through the same rigmarole every time. They either don't seem to read the notes or they're not complete enough. Where's the gas oven?

Oh I am sure it is ISP mail server based, probably just tightened up the anti-spamming measures.
It may not even be specific to you.

The number of people in BT Retail out of 1000's of staff who probably know the SMTP spam system is likely to be less than five.

I know this is not a resolve of the BT problem.
Do you have a domain name for your group. Google brings up a lot.... If you have, why not set up a email account via this and bypss the isp.
May cost a small amount a month, but at least should you change isp. you are not stuck with the issue of changing email address.

More info about what JohnR suggests.

bassethoundwalkers.co.uk is already in use.

bassethoundwalkers.org.uk is available. With the company I use it's £6.70 every two years, plus an email service for another £14.99 a year. Which includes plenty of space for a website, and for a free forum for discussions between yourselves, similar to this one but more modern.

bassethoundgroup.co.uk or .org.uk are also available.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre.

Interesting thing is OP is able to send from wife's laptop using wife's From email addy on the same ISP connection presumably.

So it doesn't seem to be connected with ISP's general anti-spamming measures, but with OP's specific From email addy.

@OP: What happens if you try creating an email a/c fior yourself, temporarily, in the email client (TB?) on wife's laptop? Doubt it will work, but, hey, you never know.

Yes I had thought of opening my own a/c on wife's laptop. You're right it goes via same BT WiFi Home Hub. I transferred my T'Bird address book via .LDIF file but takes several tries to go through I don't know why. Throws up all sorts of minor quiurks.

Re: BT blocking my sending 100 emails - EDITED

[re: MissMoppet] [link to this post]

Just do it manually! Easiest way is just to change your wife's email addy to yours just for the moment.

EDIT: You are both using the same BT SMTP server for sending?
