AOL Upload speed

[link to this post]

I've recently been onto AOL about my download speed, I was stuck on 6mb for a long time (did increase then stop at that). I then logged on to the AOL members page and it offered me an option to upgrade for free, something called (High speed broadband increase upto 24mb) I now get 10 - 12mb broadband which im happy with, seeing as for years ive looked at other ISP's and they have offered me this.

I was wondering what was the max upload speed for ADSL these days. Im getting something like 0.34mb which isn't great, ive asked AOL but they don't seem to be conserned with upload speed.

Anyone else with AOL? what kind of upload speed do you get?

Many thanks

Please post your router stats.

ADSL2+ will deliver up to 1.3 Meg up sync.

I've got the DSL 2860 that they sent me and it is ADSL2+. Just wondering if the AOL upload speed is capped?

Here is a link to the router

Thanks for the help.

AOL restricts upload on ADSL2+ to 448Kbps, which is why your speed is so low.

I once phoned them on behalf of a friend who was unhappy with the low upload and they flatly refused to change it, stating that they don't offer anything higher to residential customers.

How do you account for this then?

I never asked for a specification of your router, but for its connection stats, like speeds, NMs & attenuations. If you don't know how to get them, it may be like this: How to get your router line stats.

I can't, since as I mentioned it was AOL themselves that told me very clearly they don't offer more than 448kb upload.

One of my clients has an AOL connection and it's also limited to 448kb, too. So they are obviously limiting some connections and it is widespread enough that their CS people believe it's a universal thing.

But does he get above 8 Meg Down?

AOL sell 2 products effectively, BB Only as 8 Meg capped ADSL2+ and BB/Phone package as up to 24 Meg ADSL2+. Perhaps only the former has upload capped as well.
