So isn't 50MB overkill? I just did 169GB since I posted the thread...

I would like to know wehat they consider as fair. On 20MB After 9PMI used to do about 80-100GB a night which is inside their total daily allowance of 125GB so on 50MB it would need to be about 2.5 times that.

Let's have a bit less of the 'online streams these days are HD/Bluray' nonsense - there are no Bluray streams online beyond perhaps test streams as that would require a connection of upwards of 20Mbit and even HD streams are only around 4Mbit MP4/AVC.

To answer the question about 2GB/day at the moment, including working from home twice a week.

Some of us just want the extra speed and we actually pay for our content. After all someone has to pay the people who make it else you won't have anything to download.

There is no daily allowance on any package nor a set limit. They seem to just pull the figures out of their backsides.

I don't think they even know how much people on 50M are using at the moment, given that all the people such as yourself who are taking the mickey are hammering away on it while they are writing to people using a couple of hundred GB a month, about 2 days of your usage, on 20Mbit.

Lets have a bit less of the uneducated responses. Go and find them I can assure you they are there. For example Ireel and hulu. BOTH do HD streaming and downloads., As does netflix and even lovefilm. So How about you STOP accusing me of being a pirate? It's really not nice or wise.

I don't download anything illegally. ALL my movies and music is legal, Napster is my choice for music streaming. For gaming I use Metaboli. Infact it's the one virgin provided as part of the customer area. Again 100% LEGAL. ( and lovefilm and netflix do Blu-Ray!) I was able to stream Cars off it and the total file size was 26GB. The quality was eye watering so if that's not Blu-ray then fair enough)

As for my usage..I have told people in the Chief Execs office of how much I intend to and do use and I was told and i'll quote " That's no problem, it was designed for that usage"

If you wish for the persons name PM me and i'll be happy to provide it with the number I have, then go feel free to argue with them as they give a toss. and I don't! As far as I'm concerned if they say it's okay then it's ok.

..edited to add the BR stuff...

Note that Hulu videos are only available to users located in the United States.
Love Film don't seem to be aware they offer HD streaming and download and certainly not Blu Ray downloads, in any event those are only a few Megabits/second.
iReel is mostly US and Canada for the content and again no super high bandwidth.
Netflix - streaming only, no HD available for download.

Sheesh you commented on having a seed box, presumably for sending this legitimate content back to Hulu / Lovefilm / Netflix.

Seriously dude. The people in CEO's office are customer service people who have absolutely no idea what the products are for or the restrictions on them - VM do absolutely reserve the right to reduce people's usage and if you think 28 quid a month pays for 169GB in a day you're crazy. They tolerate it for a while but don't count on that tolerance being permanent.

Just to refresh your memory:

This is why i pay £20 a month for my own dedicated server I can do 24/7 P2P and download frmo it what I need.

http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/virgin_cable/t/3755...

The server isin france. Different laws there and I connect via ssh. All i do is secure FTP in to it and dnowload what I want. It has a web based sab and torrentflux linked to the IP

TO be honest if the company I use shut down their illegal server usage they would go out of business.

Must be a different docki who posted that I guess.

£28? I am stil paying £51. I CHOOSE not to have the reduced pricing. Didn't Neil say " you get what you pay for!? I'd pay more if they did such a service.

You are right about Hulu. And no they don't use any form of P2P. A VPN soon gets around that IP blocking. Simples.

Yes I had a seedbox. HAD and at the time I did get stuff from it. However not a simgle KB was done over my connection so I believe there is nothing to answer on that. As for software there is not a single piece of software I own that is not registered and paid for by me. I have windows 7 ultimate. A mere snap at £179

They maybe what they are. But I have been told that no one can override their decisions. So like I said if they don't care neither do i.
