Re: Virgin Media - Speed and Price Changes

I just tried calling VM customer services and was told that there's nothing they can do which is par for the course with Virgin but utter utter rubbish!

I'm on 50meg at the moment, but aggrieved (like may others no doubt) that I'm paying more for slower speeds and *only* when the speed upgrade from 50 -> 100 -> 120 is complete will I actually be getting a comparable speed/service/cost to new customers!! (i.e. Even when eventually upgraded to 100meg it'll still cost me more per month than "new" 100Meg customers as I understand it)

Oh, I can take out another 18month contract and move up to their new 100meg package now - which is available in my area (andI'm not going to do because I don't want to be locked in any further)..

..but they couldn't reduce my monthly bill OR give me a free upgrade now to 100meg (as if I were a new customer, not as part of the doublespeed thing - which isn't due to come to Guildford until Oct 2012-June2013!!!)

PCoventry76 or anyone else, is there something specific I should say or ask for in an attempt to get some kind of comeback without having to resort to a contract renewal? Were any of you successful in getting your monthly bill reduced OR an upgrade to an existing (faster) speed now?

Did you try retentions? 150 and "thinking of leaving".

Haven't gone the retentions route simply due to being only a few months into an 18month contract, not sure what recourse I'd have on that front.. unless anyone has an suggestions?

The service "as is", is perfectly fine.. its the unbalanced pricing that's more than urksome! frown

Ahhh... sounds like they got you by the short and curlies. You can downgrade with no penalty. I took mine down from 50 to 10 because it was so poor. Then of course you have to put up with the slower speed but I'd already resolved to leave as soon as I could get Infinity because from what I can see VM are on a downward spiral with ever increasing headline speeds advertised and ever decreasing delivery of those speeds at peak times.

As far as I was aware all existing 100 customers had their prices dropped to £34.75 on the 1st of April.

If this was not the case for you then you need to find out why! frown

And all 50 Mbit customers had their price increased from £35 to £37.25. Virgin really are a bunch of shysters! Hopefully we'll have FTTC here by the end of September and I can switch to Sky Fibre.
