Virgin Business in York

[link to this post]

Hi, has anyone got Virgin Business BB and/or phone installed in York centre? Any thoughts/comments please it is an option I'm looking at as BT can't do infinity. Virgin haven't done their survey yet but the prices and speeds look good (152? Something like that) and their is a cabinet around 400 metres away, not sure if there are T junctions in our street (I have Virgin at home). Thanks.

Hi, at home you mean? Interesting that UFO have not been on our part of the street as there is no pavement! all other streets around have been done.

Virgin business is for our business in the centre of York so hoping that someone else has it and can give an opinion.

CityFibre are also meant to have got York sewn up, so might be worth getting a quote for the speeds you need from them too.

Hi yes don;t make me shudder smile There is no fibre here on Davygate (a very "main" street), or many other of the main streets in York, so the £3000 grant wasn't much use to many businesses like us. There is no BT cabinet with FTTC in our area, and the council's 1GB pipe runs down our street but of course it isn't for us!

This'll be part of how they are keeping the costs down - avoiding streets where they have to dig carriageways / block paving.

Thanks for the information.

They have also made a real mess of the pavements near here, the council have been in York Press complaining about the weird methods of laying the line in the pavement, looks like a drunk has done it! A narrow band with some edges that are a trip hazard and a "ice trap".

Lowest bidder contractor most likely.
