ping issues

now i have posted this over on virgin forums aswell but thought i would give here a try also

i recently got upgraded to 200mb with the superhub 3 and i have been getting lag and a really unstable ping when gaming on pc or xbox one

i have tried modem mode with my own router i have tried leaving things disconnected but as you will see in the bqm's even when everyone is in bed i everything is off its still the same

my speeds are fine no matter what time of the day it is

i get ping spikes when pinging the superhub somtimes it hits over 100ms

yeah the underlying VM connection looks ok, the issue seems related to the device.

Due to the way cable works you can get quite a lot of jitter, i.e. a high variation in ping times, because of the way packets are queued and have to wait to be sent on the shared channel.

However, you really need to address your local issues first. Your ping to the superhub should be consistently below 1ms. Since it isn't then either the superhub, your network card or your wiring is faulty, get this sorted first. The very first thing would be to try a different cable direct to the superhub. Then try pinging your own router over the same cable (the router doesn't even need to be connected to the superhub to try this). If you get random ping times regardless of how you connect to the superhub then get it replaced. If you get random ping times when connecting to a different device over different cables then it is probably your network card that is faulty. If a different cable fixes the randomness, well that's that.
