Think Broadband have said we can have a new Software Development one as a trial if I can get 10 people together who will agree to actively participate on the board.
Who on here would be interested in a Software Development board?

Could this forum not simply be expanded to include Software Development?
There is a lot of overlap between Software Development and Web Design.
Line One:- Zen - DrayTek Vigor 2600VG
Line Two:- EntaNet (Aquiss) - DrayTek Vigor 2600

There is a good deal of overlap but also a lot of separation of concerns. I think that Adam is mostly interested in programming microcontrollers. Others might have interests in developing software unrelated to websites. I think that having a separate software development board is worth a good idea.

Personally my 'programming' amounts to web or excel formula, with occasional vba adventures.
Would DOS batch files count?

Scottish Labour politician: “No, but they are doing it deliberately.”

Would DOS batch files count? Only if they contain ECHO OFF

I agree. I would enjoy reading such a board. Much would probably be irrelevant to me though I'd undoubtedly learn things .
I doubt I would be much of a contributor but even in my dotage I still enjoy 'bit-twiddling'

The Software Development Board sounds like a government department - a bit like the old Milk Marketing Board - guaranteed prices for programmers.

Only if they've got the bottle, or is that clutching at straws Humphrey?

What sort of things are you thinking of? Programming language help and support?
David
BT (poor) -> Zen (excellent) -> O2 (started well, went downhill -> IDNet (waiting to see)

|

That sort of thing - I bounce ideas around FC now and again, where the help is very good.
We have residents who know all about microcontrollers, integrated devices, cash handling system protocols etc but a seperate board would be best IMHO!

....... - I bounce ideas around FC now and again, where the help is very good. Not any more.
So maybe your suggestion is a good one. Add me to the list.

I'd be interested and would contribute what and when I can, but I think it may be just as easy just to change the title of this section instead?

I see web design and hosting as quite different from software development and general programming. But then, if we get the board, we'll see how it goes. A lot of programming questions used to be posted in FC but, currently, this is no longer feasible.

True, as I've said, I'll happily contribute what I can.
Which would be mostly VBA/VB6 (I know, I know, no comments ).
But if you look at how much use this board gets, another board may not be such a good idea...

Another vote for vba (I have the occasional need for such expertise ).
