JQuery .animate

Any JQuery/javascript gurus in here?

I'm just trying to get more than a basic grasp of it and I'm struggling to animate a thumbnail carousel, see here.

I can animate single movements, but I want to click on a specific thumb, move it to the first visible part of the list and animate it going there. I'm not even sure I'm going about it the right way
