Good non LLU provider

[link to this post]
Hello right now i am with vivaciti o-bit surfwise package. I get 75gb a month usage, i have not been on this package long but apart from the occasional slow downs i have nothing but praise for it. I usually average around 6.5mbit and my line max is 8mbit. No port blocking, which is good for usenet..max speeds any time of the day. But now im thinking the usage allowance may be too small. Hd/blue ray at 8gb a piece along with watching youtube, google, iplayer and it all adds up. So im looking for a new isp with a larger usage allowance for roughly the same price, any ideas? I really don't want to leave vivaciti because of the great service and speeds, plus some months i really don't use much of my allowance. But when i do need it i would really like some more. I will never be getting LLU in my area so that's not an option though i understand it is the best choice for my needs.

Cheers

The allowance you get for the money on that package is extremely high for a reasonably quality connection. I suggest that in the months that you want more, (want and need are different things), you delay one or two of the big downloads until the following month.

Have you checked that your allowance isn't actually 100GB now anyway? They upped it for new customers for a while before they withdrew it from sale.

The only other place I can think of to look at would be AAISP - but don't look at the current tariff. You need to understand the 2010 tariffs.

Hello, sorry the monthly price is £20.70. I am willing to pay up to £25 for broadband. As for the download usage increasing i have heard nothing of that. I would have expected an email etc so as far as i know im still on 75gb. And yes it really is a need for more usage, i won't be using all of it every month but a good chunk of it. I would ideally like roughly 150gb a month. Like i said i am very happy with vivaciti(O-bit) the only problem is usage which is a shame. I checked out AAISP but it's a bit confusing...im not exactly sure what usage it is they are saying i would have. I know 21CN is not in my area though.

Ok it seems i wasn't understanding it fully. With 4 units i get 4gb peak which will probably just do and 400gb off peak plus 1000gb between 2am and 6am all for £23.42? if so that is an amazing deal.. am i understanding this correctly?

not quite like that

each unit will either get you

1. 1gb data d/l ON PEAK time over your monthly billing period (09.00 - 18.00)

..........OR

2. 100gb OFF PEAK time over your monthly billing period (18.00 - 09.00)

..........OR

3. 1000gb time over your monthly billing period (02.00 - 06.00)

so for £20.70 you will get all the above

Okay im sure it is more simple than im making it out to be...but im still confused. So when i go to the order page and say i want 4 units. It says i get 4gb peak or 400gb off peak.. does that mean i have to choose between the two? so if i pick 400gb off peak i will only have 1gb peak?

more or less, or you can have a mix of the various tariffs (minimum 2 units per month) charging is done in 0.01 unit steps.
so if it is as I interpret, for your 2 Units you may have for example 1gb daytime(1unit), 50gb off peak(1/2 unit), 500gb night time use(1/2 unit) total 2units, maybe this is wrong I'm sure someone will verify.

sidneyk,

I think the grey matter or alcohol has pickled my head - it doesn't matter how many times I read the new tarriffs, I just don't get them.

I was on 4gb peak time, 20C network. Paying nearly 30 quid.

So, what am I on now? All I see is for 1 unit is £11.70. I'm confused. Does it mean 4 units is £46.80? oR, OR or.....huh?

lol Just roll with the alcohol in case it wears off.

BT 20CN 1GB peak 100GB 1000GB off peak nights £17.56 (minimum Subscription)

Minimum Subscription = £11.70 line supply + £5.86 Two Units @ £2,93/unit)

gets you BT 20CN 1GB peak 100GB 1000GB off peak nights

so if you get BT 20CN 1GB peak 100GB 1000GB off peak nights £17.56 (minimum Subscription) then a further 3 Units for an extra 3Gb Peak that should make your p/m payment £26.35

this may be totally wrong but may be somewhere near !
