Friend wants to move from Tiscali/TalkTalk but who to?

[link to this post]

Hi there, need a bit of advice.

My friends live in Cornwall and their local exchange is Camelford. They are tired with TalkTalk who keep on reducing their download limits. It's currently at 40Gb. I personally don't think they come close to downloading that amount but they're determined to move away from TalkTalk on principle. They pay £14.99 a month for a 1Mb line (it won't go any faster 'cos of the line length) and would like to pay the same or less. They're happy to commit to a long term contract if it helps them get a decent deal. Does anyone know of anything that might fit the bill?

Ta in advance!

Have a look at Plusnet as they provide reasonably low cost packages on their network.

They do manage the traffic on that network, it is described on their website as shown in the link

The headline prices are for market 3 exchanges only, the same payment for every month not just the first three, Camelford is a market 1 exchange

See at bottom of page the Stuff you need to know.

40gb at £14.99 a month is pretty good on resold BT , all there going to find is a lesser cap and better quality , or a bigger cap and increased congestion .

What i think your looking for , for your friends, just is not available on a exchange that only has BT as its only option .

hence the lack of replies ..

Apprentice just beat me to a reply (in response to your bump smile).

Nobody so far as I know on a BT Wholesale Market 1 circuit offers that sort of price for new sign-ups at 40GB or more. (I assume you mean 40GB(ytes) not the 40Gb(its) you posted. Does it include the phone or is that separate.

That's probably why you got no replies before. They can't move away "on principle" and get a better product cheaper. Almost by definition.

Between £18 and £25pm for just the broadband part there are several reasonably good solutions, so we need to know how much they are willing to pay and how much download they really need, as opposed to want.

One thing the 40GB limit has been with TalkTalk since 2006.

The reduction has only come about for ex-Tiscali customers, whose limits and prices were to be honest unsustainable.
