For Gaming

[link to this post]

I've been with bethere since 2007 and not had much problems with there service, I live 218 meters from my exchange and get the full 24meg with gaming mode on, The problem is i suffer alot of lag in games, I can never seem to get a lag free game on call of duty, Weather its cod4 or waw or mw2 or blops and also on bfbc, I've used the bebox and also a netgear router, Setup in upnp and also dmz, To no avail i still suffer lag alot, My only thought is that the be network is overcrowded.

So now i'm thinking of looking for another isp for gaming that doesn't have an overloaded network, Does anyone have any recommendations?

I don't recall ever seeing Be users complaining about lag. Good latency is one of their main selling points.

Do you run the tbb BQM, (Broadband Quality Monitor)? It's possible you have a line problem and that might tell us something.

Also monitoring your noise levels with RouterStats would be a good idea.

Your full line stats from your BeBox would be useful.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre.

WLAN 11M/54M 0 0 0 0 0 00:00:00

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream

On the WAN setup section in the Netgear GUI, try unticking "Disable Port Scan and DOS Protection"

I don't have that option in the WAN menu, I also have the spi firewall disabled.

Have you looked at the pings via a PC? i.e. using the ping command, if latency is bad due to the ISP then it should show up.

BE isn't overloaded. I play WoW, COD 4, CScrazy , 1.6 L4D2 and GTA Episodes all without lag and usually with the lowest and most consistent ping on the server.

Could be your PC?

Try setting OpenDNS servers manually on the PS3
