New house - EE or Plusnet / ?? ADSL2+ & phone

[link to this post]

Hello all,

I will be moving to a new hone in the next few weeks, while it is in a fibre area, I'm wanting to get online asap - hence ADSL 2+ for now as there's already a phone line installed, just needs activating (so hopefully no engineer).

I'm currently with plusnet - who've been great on ADSL Max - but half temped by EE with TV. - but, not heard great things.

Thoughts anyone? smile

Not won over by ee tv just another pvr with local media server

Going ee tv would limit your fibre choices in a few months

Bit more than that! Will play on numerous devices, mobiles & tablets.

Why limit fibre choice? You can always upgrade to fibre on EE.

True.

It is likely in the future I'd go fibre, only reason I'm questioning EE is that I've not heard they are fantastic, especially customer support wise (where as plusnet have been great). The TV is just a added extra, don't 100% need it as already use Chromecast.

Price wise (minus special offers which change every other week) they are both very similar.

I darent go fibre straight away as, would like to be online as soon as possible, my mother had a horrible experience with plusnet / BT when it came to moving over to fibre (probably more BT than plusnet as always) - took 3 months!!

I haven't heard good things about EE personally. Just stick with PN you're happy.

Also just go straight for Fibre, it's no more risky than going to ADSL... There's potential it will go wrong either way.

Overall I would say there's usually more issues with ADSL connections than fibre ones due to far more old copper wiring being used in the ADSL setups. The fibre connection is likely to work better with less issues so just get on with it.

Plusnet are about to release their TV service for Fibre customers, don't know if it'll be free yet but even then, their fibre prices are significantly less expensive than EE and their traffic management policy is less strict, it's a win-win situation. EE customer service is most definitely terrible and frustrating more often than not.

Yes, as others have touched on I have heard of lots of traffic management on EE... You wont get that on EE.

As I've said earlier though, just go straight in as a fibre order, if it goes wrong chances are the ADSL order would have gone wrong too... It will be fine though.

That wasn't what I meant smile. That was a normal typo. I meant "... lots of traffic management on EE... You wont get that on EE".
