Speed....

[link to this post]

Hi all,

We currently have a TalkTalk Business line on ADSL2+ getting speeds of around 3-4mbit [sync speed].

Our business is now at a point that we need more speed & bandwidth but we're not big enough to make the jump to a leased line due to the huge increase in cost.

We had been waiting for FTTC but Openreach kindly left out the business park when upgrading all the other cabinets in the exchange area, so that option has gone. Cable is also not available in our area [despite a Virgin media fibre cable running right down our road].

I'm thinking the only option is bonded ADSL... Can anyone give me any suggestions for a provider who can do this using ADSL2+ LLU? TalkTalk Business don't offer it.

Alternatively has anyone got any other ideas on how we can get a faster internet connection?

Thanks smile

Do you need faster or just more bandwidth (i.e. support more staff). If you need more bandwidth just install a new phone line and have an ADSL on that as well (much cheaper than line bonding).

Line stats would help a lot. It might give an idea if it's the line or the ISP.

BE do line bonding
LINE BONDING

You can double your speed by bonding two lines at your exchange
Up to 44 meg download
Up to 5 meg upload
Unlimited usage
1 static IP address (can upgrade to up to 16 static IPs)

£65.00 /month

12 months contract
£85.00 connection fee

As you are getting low speeds from your ADSL2+ line I am presuming that you have a relatively long line lengh which would limit the potential of a bonded solution. I would recommend a bonded solution that offers a low contention guarantee to make sure you are able to maximise whatever speeds you can obtain. There are a few ISP's that offer bonded solutions and on varying costs depending on the type of lines that are combined. If you would like further advise on what is available I am happy to discuss this with you.
