ADSL for business usage ( 7 users ) - Currently plusnet

[link to this post]

I am in the process of changing ISP's for a company who has on average 7 light users of the internet connection at a time.

Currently we are with plusnet who are very slow in the afternoons. Using ADSL Max, LLU is available on my exchange ( bolton ).

I am considering Xilo, Easynet and IDNet. Happy to pay up to around £60 per month for the right connection.

What would you guys recommend? We have the MAC and are ready to migrate.

Easynet would be my choice, they do a package for £50.00 a month, or there is Be wholsale but i'm not sure on data caps ect that may exist, but i'm fairly certain it's only available via a reseller, the other thing to consider is SLA's should there ever be issues, or you could always just go for a residential product instead, is fttc available in your area? that may well be a worthwhile punt bt do a business option too, not sure on cost though you would get better speeds than any llu offerings, (excluding line bonding)

Can you expand on what you mean by an SLA?

FWIW iDNet are also now doing connections via BE (= Telefonica wholesale) so it might be worth giving them a call.

You also have Fibre in your exchange, do you know if your cabinet has been upgraded yet?

Cabinet has not been upgraded, a low contention ratio is rather important. So what makes Easynet worth the £50 per month as opposed to £30 from the others?

If you expect to have fibre shortly it may make sense to choose an ISP with a monthly contract and low entry/exit costs.

Re Easynet, I don't know.

If it helps, we can offer either BE (Very new, no rates on our website yet - please contact me and I'll send them over) or BT Wholesale based connections. If you are likely to see FTTC sometime soon (Let me have a phone number and I can give you OpenReach's current best guess) we can migrate you without notice period. All our connections are backed by our Broadband Commitment to you which hopefully explains our position on contention and what you can expect from our connections and what we will do if we don't meet your expectations.

If you would like to chat through the options and what they mean to you, give us a shout.

Drew

Don't think we are going to see FTTC here anytime soon.... But I will contact regardless. When I rang easynet they told me £99 pcm + vat. £300 Install plus £250 for a Cisco router or use the included optional one..... The lady on the phone told me they needed to install a dedicated none BT line to allow the 5:1 contention ratio.

Could anyone expand on the reasons why this could be?
