Windows 7 pre-order offer questions

[link to this post]
Hi,
After seeing all of the Windows 7 pre-order offers I would like to ask the following questions.....

1) The offers appear to be for the 'E' version. Will this be the final release version for the UK?

2) Will the 'E' version include IE8 as an install option?

3) Are the pre-order offers for upgrade, OEM or full retail versions?

4) Why would the Home Premium version be sooooo much cheaper than the Pro or Ultimate versions?

Many thanks for your time smile

Yes. MS can't sell windows with IE preinstalled in Europe.
2) Will the 'E' version include IE8 as an install option?
I don't think there has been an E build yet, but it's likely they'll be a multiple choice question during setup up.
3) Are the pre-order offers for upgrade, OEM or full retail versions?
Retail!
4) Why would the Home Premium version be sooooo much cheaper than the Pro or Ultimate versions?
Always has been, but there are some pretty big new features in the pro and ultimate versions too(xp mode for one)
Many thanks for your time smile
I'll PM you a paypal donate link.

E build is the build for Europe (without IE), so not a option during set up.

Thanks for your answers 12eason.

PayPal dosh on its way wink

Are the expected multiple choice questions during setup likely to give me that option to install IE8 with Windows 7?

Are the pre-order offers much cheaper than the expected prices when the product is actually released?

Will there be any OEM versions available and if so are they likely to be cheaper than the pre-order offers?

You will have to download it, or get a disk with it on.

Microsoft have confirmed that there will be no questions regarding which browser you would like after setup. On their website they say that before installation of Windows 7 the best thing to do is save a browser to a DVD/USB stick/removable media and then once Windows 7 is installed run the .exe file from the removable media and install the browser that way. More information HERE which at the bottom says:

Please get a browser from Microsoft or a third party and have it on a CD/DVD or another device so it's ready to install after the Windows 7 installation is complete.

No IE with Win7 in Europe

Pre order now (while stocks last) £49.95 ( can be got for £44.95)
After stocks run out or after 9th Aug 09 £79.99
After 1st Jan 2010 £149.99

Will there be any OEM versions available and if so are they likely to be cheaper than the pre-order offers?

Can't see a legal copy ever being cheaper than £44.95

I know MS haven't made an announcement either way but I can't believe they won't have it on Windows Update.

The would be one way to download it, if it doesn't break the "rules".
