Having installed the RC and used it for a few hours, it's seems distinctly "snappier" than the Beta. And it's a vast improvement on IE8.

I must be a rarity in that I dont like slimmed down toolbars that have no menu etc. Hopefully there is a tweak for the menu to always be visible and make the buttons larger, shame still no multi row tab bar either. I dont need my entire monitor space to be used for viewing a web page.

My own questions.

does 32 bit IE9 work on 64 win7, I assume yes. as probably needed for plugins.
does IE9 import plugins from IE8, or do I need to reinstall flash, java etc.
how compatible are IE8 plugins with IE9 in general.

I might update what is installed now, just to not use that one either.

It is really a waste of time wandering away from what works well already (firefox on PC, Google Chrome for MacBook Pro).

grin

Be* with this (XP Pro & Win7), and a MacBook Pro (OS X)

IE9 RC works great with Win7 32bit - hardware acceleration is a big plus, e.g. can now have 1000 fish moving at 14fps displayed at 1284x912 (20 fish at 60fps 1284x912) from the "FishIE Tank" test, Microsoft's Test Drive site LOL!

512MB GPU memory, 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and 5.2 Gaming Graphics sub-score.

Probably a touch better than Chrome for playing HD 1080p online videos with the latest Flash players.

It does!

But each to their own. I like to try everything and see which works best for me. I wasn't really impressed with Chrome. Opera is good, but it doesn't work so well, for me, as IE 9.
