Windows XP SP2 is it being updated?

[link to this post]

where can I get confirmation that WinXP SP2 is not being updated in any way at all. One of the companies I work with seams to think SP2 is still being updated with security updates, I think it is not.

From the microsoft site it states "Support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) will end on July 13, 2010." Basically you can install SP3 and that is supported/updated.

Could this company be on some form of 'enhanced' support or not.

Not according to Microsoft. But why would anyone not have upgraded to SP3 by now?

Some updates will go on SP2 but the point is it won't be fully up to date because it lacks SP3 and thus any updates with a SP3 dependency. It is not supported by Microsoft so it is fair to say it is "not being updated" as such.

Thanks for that, that is what I thought, I was just checking there was not some form of corporate update I did not know of. Looks like I need to spreak to the companies IT dept and ask why we are again still stuck on xp sp2

some companies will be on extended support, especially those with volume licenses.

yes, that is what I was expecting, except that I read extended support did not match any service packs, so we aould not get support for say XP SP1/2 as SP3 was available for use. Otherwise MS would be ariting and supporting each service pack for years and years.
