Agreed. It doesn't delete the old ones.

Personally from time to time I uninstall them all and start again. But it does seem to be an elementary omission. Unless there's another reason somewhere...

You can normally disable or remove an add-on in Firefox. However that’s not the case with the Java Console add-ons. You can’t get thet “Remove” button for java.

This tip works for me. You can read more at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console...

This should work

1. Close Firefox
2. Go to the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\extensions (if using 64-bit Windows) or
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions (if using 32-bit Windows)
3. Delete all directories whose names start with: CAFEEFAC
4. If you are prompted for administrator approval, say yes
5. Start Firefox again and that should be it.

If you find that the current latest java is no longer there just re-install. You should now only show the current one.

Hope the above helps

Regards

Although there is a update java app does not find this via it's built in updater nor by visting the web site to see which version of it is installed it actually says that the recommended version 6.24 is installed?java.com click on downloads to verify your own version of java seems a bit of an oversight that they have not bothered to update their other sites too

Please note that the main website for the java update is not normally updated until two weeks after an update has become available also the built in updater seldom works so you need to remember to look out for updates when posted otherwise you will not only be running a out of date build but the security of your OS can be compromised

I would expect an installer to handle this for me tho.

I've always installed newer versions without uninstalling previous versions. I don't think I've had any real issues.

The only issue I've had is that the Java icon always appears in the sys-tray even though I've unticked the box "Place Icon In System Tray".

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard
