calendar / planner options

[link to this post]

I want to have a planner/calender on my desktop. I'm using Win 7.
I'd like something that looks like this http://www.thctalk.com/gallery/data/1470/Monthly_Cal... and is obviously editable.
Is there a desktop gadget which does this?

I thought one option (not ideal) would be to use the Windows Live Calendar but I can't figure out if it is possible to get a pop up reminder - is this possible? I think previous windows os did this. If so this would be one solution.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

There used to be a really good sidebar gadget calendar, but it looks like MS nerfed their gadget site.

Check out Yahoo! Widgets - you might find something suitable. Don't worry about the Yahoo! bit - this a really nice widget engine.

If you can't find anything, you could always run Google Calendar or some such in a separate window.
