"SOLVED" - Windows XP Pro Start Menu Folders..!!

[link to this post]

Hi,

Very odd situation on Win XP Pro re-install.
Never seen this in years of using XP.

Clean Install, XP Pro.

On the start menu if I install a Program I get the usual short cut to the program.
I'm also seeing a link to the actual "real" folder.

example:
If I manually create a folder in the Programs folder called "TEST"
If I then go to Start - Programs the "TEST" folder is there.
It's not a short cut, If I right click "delete", it gets deleted from Programs folder

Any ideas, comments welcome

Thanks
Dave

"SOLVED" = Re: Windows XP Pro Start Menu Folders..!!

[re: WiresFree] [link to this post]

Hi,

Now fixed...
Some how, Start Menu, Environment Variables and Program Path got out of synch.
Bit of RegEditing fixed it.

The clue was the properties of the "Phantom" Start Menu folder items,
always showing "P:\", and not the actual real "P:\Folder Name"
So my Start Menu was a combination of "Real" program short cuts,
and what appeared to be windows junction points to actual folders.

Thanks - Dave
