What causes error 'Apache Tomcat/7.0.29 Error'

[link to this post]

This evening I've had an email from a friend whose sister is getting the above message.

It seems it's just a message from Tomcat V.7.0.29, there is a 7.0.39 but that's very recent.

I've replied and asked under what circumstances - it sounds the sort of message that would come back from a web site. From the little I currently know I'd be very surprised if the sister is running a web server on her PC - at least not knowingly.

I've also suggested Ccleaner, MalwareBytes & SuperAntiSpyware to check in case of a nasty.

Any thoughts?

XAMPP installed and Apache service not initialising might be one example of how it might pop-up (I think).

I've now had an update to close this one.

Turns out the lap top was accessing the internet via a mobile dongle. Replaced the dongle and all is fine.

Clearly some sort of odd error that is now not possible to investigate further.
