How to install MySQL and phpMyAdmin on Windows 7 IIS

[link to this post]

I'm currently running IIS & PHP on my Win7 Pro 64-bit system. I'd like to be able to setup and experiment with MySQL.

What's the best/easiest way of installing MySQL and phpMyAdmin?

Is MySQL free for private use? It seems more corporately targeted editions are commercial and priced accordingly.

I use XAMPP and the MySQL is run as a service when required. phpMyAdmin comes with it, but (I think) you would have to have your server within the XAMPP htdocs folder.

You can download them separately too. That may be your best option.

After a couple of hiccups I've now got MySQL & phpmyadmin installed and running and starting to 'play' grin
