Windows MTU Settings.

[link to this post]

I'm looking in to the importance of having the correct mtu settings for my net connection.

It seems that my BT ISP and router works on 1492 mtu, but apparently windows (xp in my case) works on a standard 1500.

So does anyone know a safe easy way I can change it to 1492 ?

I know it involves registry's, but I'd prefer a good (free) program that can change it without disturbing anything else.

Anyone ideas?

Used to use Dr TCP for changing MTU and RWIN many years ago with XP, it should still be out there in googleland.

If you have to swallow a frog, try not to think about it. If you have to swallow two frogs, don't swallow the smaller one first.
