Freeware PDF to JPEG software recommendations?

[link to this post]

Hi, basically as per the title - I'm looking for some simple freeware (or just plain free) software to convert PDF pages to JPEGs (or PNGs I guess). Not after anything fancy, just something that gives legible results with small-ish file sizes.

Note I'm not interested in any of the many free online converters, where you upload your documents to their website - this is for security reasons. (It's nothing top-secret, but is personal and financial - I'd rather not unnecessarily leave the door ajar to sharing it with the world!)

Has anyone got any recommendations? Thanks.

If like me all you want is an occasional image of a pdf page you could do as I do - hit the 'Prt Scr' key then paste it into your graphic editor (good old faithful PaintShopPro in my case). Crop and and do whatever you want to it and save it out in the format you want.

Try Inkscape. Just open the PDF document and export as PNG.

My favourite bit of software (well almost) and I never thought of it! - thumbs up to that suggestion.

Very poor show on my part taking a year and three months to come back and thank everyone for their suggestions!

In the end I went for PDF-XChange Editor, which is the replacement for PDF-XChange Viewer suggested by Oldjim above (though the older bit of software remains available).

The makers say of the newer bit of software...

Around 85% of the features require no license to use.
Approx 15% of the advanced features which are clearly identified will place a trial watermark on output if used without a license.

The thing I use it for is not one of the advance features, i.e. no watermark / no need to pay for a licence.

So thanks Oldjim and everyone else!
