Windows 10 Upgrade from Windows 7 Then HDD Fail

[link to this post]

Hello,

I upgraded my Windows 7 HP 64 to Windows 10 a good while ago and everything was fine. I actually quite liked Windows 10.

The trouble is,. my hard drive has failed now and I need to reinstall from scratch. I can put W7 back on as the W7 sticker is there on the side of the machine giving the W7 product key, the trouble is that there's no longer a free upgrade to Windows 10 so can I go back to Windows 10 or am I now stuck with 7?

Thank you for any and all help

Your activation entitlement is stored on Microsoft's servers. Just download (if necessary) and install Windows 10, it will automatically activate.

Oliver.
