Cant decide on a browser for facebook.

[link to this post]

Not having much luck with browsers and facebook.

Firefox in high contrast mode doesn't display Icons or smileys and some videos dont play.

Edge crashes because of a memory leak after scrolling a few pages.

Chrome (Cent) doesn't display high contrast pages correctly.

So its back to firefox and put up with some things not working correctly.

What OS are you using? If Windows 8.1 or 10, I find the Facebook app in the Windows Store is pretty good. However, if you need a high contrast theme, it may well be useless to you.

I usually use the x64 build of Firefox, but use the standard theme so cannot comment on high contrast related issues.

Yes Win 10 have tried the facebook app but no dark theme. Switched to FF x64 but dark theme still incorrect. Never mind will keep sending feedback and see if they fix it.

My wife has this sort of problem - would really like to use a high contrast, but things don't show up.

It is a great loss that we no longer have the ability to adjust the colour of each element under Windows. For a while it was somewhat buried, but possible to copy settings from an earlier Windows, but then it all seemed to change.

Yes a white background hurts my eyes after a while, much prefer a black background. As you say some things dont work in high contrast, ok on Edge but after a while it becomes slow and unresponsive due to a memory leak.

Try using the FB Purity addon - http://www.fbpurity.com

This allows you to change fonts and background settings on Facebook and can be added to Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari, Opera and Maxthon browsers.

It also has a large array of other customization options for Facebook.

I am using FB Purity but didn't realise about page colour customization but if I turn off high contrast it affects other pages like this one which I like with a black background. If only you could turn off high contrast for individual pages.

Thanks for the tip Sarah.

Perhaps you need a browser you only use for Facebook with FB Purity.

This also has the advantage that Facebook cookies stay on that browser and Facebook won't be able to track you across other sites.

Thanks again Sarah FB Purity for Chrome (Cent) works a treat with black background and white text. I was swapping between browsers anyway as MWDS displays well on Chrome.
