I fully test all Microsoft updates for any type of failure before I even post the update in the main forums of the world. I work alongside another Microsoft mvp as a backup and as far as it's possible post the update or halt it on any insider feedback that I get

I have a very heavy windows loaded system of software and that's the best I can do to make sure all is working well and that's the best I can do with any update that I post

There have been issues that have come to light but that is not applicable to this update of failure’

The advice that I normally give is that if you’re unsure about an update you can always pause it for 35 days from the advanced options in the windows update menu

Just to confirm that the update above is not the update in question in which files go missing

that is only applicable to Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) Release Date: October 2, 2018 in which has been paused by Microsoft pending further investigation
