vFast throttling NNTP?

[link to this post]

Hi

I've been a happy vFast user for 5 months now, but as of Sunday my Usenet appears to have been throttled. Anyone else experiencing similar?

Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich

The rate limit on NNTP was put in place on Sunday when your usage was affecting other users on the network. This was a temporary rate limit of 1Mbps at all times. Ben has now changed this to be completely unrestricted between the hours of 23:30 and 8:00 for over night downloads and 5Mbps at all other times.

I believe you are happy with this arrangement.

Happy downloading,
Tim

Is there any general policy for NNTP traffic management?

I have a newsgroup account and use it infrequently (scheduling any downloads for overnight). I haven't noticed any limits but it would be nice to know if there are any (or if anything is in place on my account).

vFast Ltd
Downstream ~10 mbps (megabits per second) - ~1250 KBps (kilobytes per second)
Upstream ~2 mbps (megabits per second) - ~250 KBps (kilobytes per second)
Sky MID
Downstream Att. ~62db - SNR ~5.5db - Sync - ~2784 Kbps
Upstream Att. ~31db - SNR ~16db - Sync - ~832 Kbps
