Vfast - Actual Coverage - Isle of Sheppey.

[link to this post]

Hi,

Im living on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. According to Vfasts Website im in their 24mb coverage area.

So, I applied for the service but was then told that they acutally dont cover the Island until their new network is rolled out. No idecation on when this will be ether.

Anyone else having this problem or does anyone on the isle have vfast?

Thanks

Hi

We have partial coverage on the Isle of Sheppey. Coverage is provided from Dunkirk (next-gen up-to 24Mbps) and Ridham Dock (1st-gen up-to 10Mbps). Due to the frequencies and power levels we can use line-of-sight is required between one of the transmitters and your property. Sometimes this is not possible due to the terrain, trees or buildings. Where there is reasonable demand we can add repeaters to increase capacity and coverage however there has not been enough demand in Sheppey for this to be feasible.

Unfortunately you are on the down slope on the wrong side of a hill which will block the line-of-sight between both Ridham and Dunkirk.

Tim

We live in Queenborough, and got connected in December 2011. Initially vFast didn't think we would get line-of-sight from Ridham due to the Sheppey Crossing, but we were lucky.

The receiver unit is very small, and installation was simple. Performance is fine for what we require, and vFast customer service is amazing. If you are used to BT or Virgin, vFast are streets ahead.

Highly recommended, but remember line-of-sight only

Hi

Good to hear from another satisfied customer.

We now have sector antennas at Ridham so signal has been further improved and speeds should be even better. We are also planning to make some adjustments to the backhaul for Ridham soon which will increase capacity further.

Kind Regards,

Tim Higgs
