Zen, 21C, WBC etc

[link to this post]

I can't say an awful lot but I've had confirmation from someone that Zen now have the network in place at nodes etc to support faster speeds and the 21CN network type stuff, but aren't prepared to use it until issues with BT's ordering/diagnostics system are sorted.

Thought I'd share that since I've been banging on for months about when Zen are going to actually talk about future plans...

Been reading about this and it seems Enta and AAISP are having a lot of problems, in fact I think AAISP have suspended the rollout.

Indeed they have, loads of users left offline for days after migration to the MSAN.

Although I am on WBC with no problems with AAISP.

Re: Zen, 21C, WBC etc VDSL?

[re: therioman] [link to this post]

Would be nice to know if Zen are going to offer VDSL off the back of 21CN as the Leeds node might even route back to Zen in Rochdale. (Assumption).

The only options I have currently are AA or EntaNet.

Are you on one of These exchanges then?

They're not due to be enabled till sometime early 2010. We should have 21CN products available (with ADSL 2+) before the VDSL2 trial starts at these exchanges, but I think its a bit premature to ask whether Zen is likely to take part in this FTTC trial...

Yes I am on one of those 29 exchanges. You might think it is a bit premature but since therioman has been asking for months about 21CN, WBC, etc.
I thought I would start asking the initial question now!
You never know I might even have a reply before FTTH is mass deployed wink

Ok 69 further exchanges have been released, I did have Zen quite high up my list for FTTC ISP but recent events are making me question that.

Any news?

Also since you have LLU-ed the Oldham exchange and this is having FTTC deployed how will the transit take place? Would you have to route it over 21CN/ WBC or via your LLU kit and own IP Transit?

I was going to move back to Idnet as the 21CN new packages have an off peak allowance.

But after reading on the TB Idnet subforum and over at idnetters.co.uk about the WBC 21CN Huawei MSAN problems I decided to let other people be the guinea pigs.

Some people have gone back to ADSLmax as the new service has been so problematic for them (info over at Idnetters.co.uk)

I think it's a case of be careful what you wish for from reading the various forums, we have no date here for WBC and I think I'm grateful for that

Zen dropped right off my list once they announced usage allowances wouldn't be increasing, so I don't see it matters how they shift traffic, they won't be shifting much....
