fatal errors

Can anybody advise. I have a family member in the USA and of late I am unable to get e-mails delivered to him. They seemingly leave Zen OK but the "postoffice" at his USA server quotes what I am certain is his correct e-address and then says <permanent fatal errors> and repeats the e-address and states <unknown or illegal alias> and continues to repeat the correct e-address and <user unknown>

Other British family members can reach him using the same e-address. Why can't I, thoughts please. Am I poison? Blacklisted?

When I have asked him over the phone he says he was probably "maxed out" whatever that means --- er, always? Why only me? Is it because we don't much like each other?
