It happened to me a couple of weeks ago, then seemed to sort itself. However, I don't believe in magic :>))

Sane issue here. Looks like it's the site having the issue.

Avios

Sorry!

We're having a few problems getting our website and your computer to work
together.

Don't worry, we can sort this out just give us a call on 0844 49 333

When you call could you quote reference number .

Once we've fixed the glitch, you'll have full use of avios.com again.

This is still playing up. I can't access Avios.com from my computer (ISP Zen) but I can get to it from a smartphone (iPhone using EE / Orange connection).

Another bit of info : on my computer, I can connect to airmiles.co.uk - the 1st page contains a link to avios.com, but of course this doesn't work.

Any ideas ?

This is getting silly ......if I try to connect to avios.com from my "regular" PC (Windows 7) I get "This page can't be displayed" (using Internet Explorer) or something similar (using Firefox).

However, if I try connecting from my "spare" machine (Windows XP) - bingo, it works !!

Bizarre or what ?

Sounds like a DNS problem. Try changing the regular PC to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Alternatively if you don't want to do this, try going to a command prompt and doing ipconfig /flushdns

Did the change in DNS amend the issue?

I didn't change DNS (that would have been pointless since both machines access the net via the same router , therefore one DNS setting works for machine 1, but not machine 2). I did try the DNS flush, but that achieved nothing.

However, loaded up Chrome on PC 1 and lo and behold, can reach Avios.com via Chrome !

Therefore, difference between the 2 machines is down to some combination of Operating System / Browser / Security Settings / Browser Add-Ons. I don't have the time / inclination to investigate further - I've got a work-around, so let's crack on with life :>))

Changing the DNS would have flushed the DNS cache.

Possible Anti-virus issue?

Have fun, if I can help let me know.
