Any Zen rep wish to comment?

[link to this post]

I have a few days to give notice to Plusnet and join you.

I contacted them as I lead the local forum on internet services and I offered to take 1000 + to their network at the end of the year when fibre comes in.

They were not interested. They refused to add a few quid a month off each customer - yet they chuck quidco cashback out every day of the week like it's water

Anyway their loss

Is anyone at Zen actually business minded and would consider a deal for the people I talk to?

I know I can do it. I did the original ADSL campaign in 2000 and got 930 people signed up - with help and leaflets from the then great Nildram who sadly are no more. there are 1915 on the exchange and I am happy to pay and deliver the leaflets myself.

Cheers either way

I do not work for Zen...

Have you seen there Partner program http://www.zen.co.uk/partner/

A former work colleague used them / it to run a service for the village he lived in.

Various (Dile up) -> clara.net (Dile up) -> TELE2 (Microwave) -> ZeN (ADSL)

Thanks I will look into that.

PN just said " Just use the normal referrals program" but not everyone is money driven. I want to be able to see people and know I recommended the right people.

I have the same 930 households wanting to sign up/swap already and there are still another potential 1000 to go.

Even those 930 alone will generate whoever I can secure just over £38K a month in subs at their current prices for the area (they do quote FTTC but it can't be ordered yet)

And to think I offered all this to Gigaclear and they turned me down - tsk!

Good luck with this but I can see a few issues.

Won't lots of people be in BB contracts so won't be able to move?

I've also run local ADSL and then FTTC campaigns and have found that although some people are very interested there are lots that aren't - so this sounds like quite an undertaking.

As I say, good luck with this and please let us all know how things go.

To be honest this situation is different,

Because I ran the original campaign for our area I had plenty of chats with people - they didn't know that ADSL would be a vast improvement over dialup. Now of course 14 years on there is no need to sell them fibre benefits.

We have a local forum which meets every few months to discuss progress so I know most of them., I say most of them, the last meeting 264 turned up - we had to have it outside as there was not enough space in the village hall smile

I have plenty of time to deliver leaflets again. I am sure now what I am going to put down just waiting to get stuff printed.

GC are only interested in rural villages who have no hope of getting superfast BB either from BT/BDUK or Virgin.
Such places also need to be within reaching distance of an access point into the internet backhaul to make it economically viable to them.
I'm sure there are other additional criteria.

I guess your situation did not meet these requirements

at the time it did - infact it took me another year of badgering the council to finally get a piece of the BDUK pie.

Virgin started to cable the town in 2001 but they only did half and never put the optics down it - so it's still there empty.
