LCP terminated by peer

[link to this post]

For weeks now I have been plagued by VDSL connection dropping.
I have had three visits by BT and they have, to be fair, done a fair job of trying to track the problem. Line tests from both ends of connection (home and cabinet) and even two "lift and shifts". After all this it has been established that the line is stable and not dropping synch.
I have been in contact with my ISP (Zen) and they have reported having seen my connection drop 500 times over three days!

I am using Bipac 8900AX R2-1600, latest firmware 2.50a.d23 and have done factory reset and the problem still exists. Extract of log as below:-

Connection UP.

I put a log server on it last night and found 160 drops between 5:30pm and 8:00 this morning.

I have also tried a spare Draytec 2760n with similar results/drop outs.

I am also seeing a lot of time outs on pings the ISP's primary and secondary DNS addresses

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

No idea why they keep sending OpenReach engineers if the xDSL link to the cabinet remains in sync at all times.

Does the Billion definitely support 1500 MTU?
Some will only do 1492 (8 bytes are used by PPP)
With those errors I would try 1492 MTU/MRU.

Is there any PPP LCP echo settings on the Billion?

Thanks for the suggestion John. The MTU is already set at1492, it must be a peculiarity of the Billion unit that it reports 1500 not possible.
I have not seen any setting that relate to LCP echo, and have little knowledge of it. Might it be known as something else?

My resold Zen via IdNet is a nightmare here again this evening. Single thread issue making the service unusable. The same every Tuesday evening with soccer. getting fed up now. https://ibb.co/gNw1FV

Try lowering the MTU to 1458 to see if it makes anything more stable.

I would have also suggested a factory reset on the router but as you've said you've tried a completely different make and model it doesn't sound like anything particular to the firmware.

Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen => Freeola => Vivaciti (using O2 Wholesale DSL) => Xilo (C&W Wholesale) => Xilo (O2 Wholesale) => Xilo (TT Wholesale due to O2 Wholesale closure) => Zen LLU => Zen FTTP (39.5 Mbps down, 9.5 Mbps up)
Router: Fritzbox 3490
Note: I don't lay turf for anyone. astro or otherwise, all views and opinions expressed are my own based on experience.

Thanks for suggestion techguy. Zen have decided to send out a loan router to try so I am loathe to make any further changes to the BiPAC until I see if the change of router makes a difference. I have noticed over yesterday that the time between drop outs has got longer. Also noticed that they appear to coincide with the packet loss spikes on the BQM monitor.
