Migrating to Plusnet - activation

[link to this post]

My Order tracker now shows this positive, but rather mystifying message:
"Your move is due to take place on on the 2008-02-14. We will send an email to you once this is complete. Please wait for this email before you try and connect to PlusNet Broadband Your Way...."
I'm just wondering how I'll get the email after activation if I'm not connected, and (presumably) my current ISP will have been disconnected....
I assumed I'd change my connect set up when I can no longer log on to my current ISP.
I'm not keen to connect to dial up to wait for the email.
Does anyone have a rough idea of the time of day when activation normally occurs?

Two points.
1- I imagine that you will receive email prior to activation
2- You will have to log off and then enter your new 'plusnet details and log on.
Sorry I dont know of any set time for this but somebody else will.

Taken from plusnet site.
"
If you are connected to your existing provider when your service is moved, you will be briefly disconnected. To reconnect simply change your modem or router settings to the username and password supplied by us in your Connection

Thanks - I sort of assumed that would be the case.
The wording was just a a bit strange. And suppose I don't log on since before the email was sent until after the switchover.
Anyway, I assume at some point I will be unable to log on to my current provider, at which point I change my username and password to the Plusnet values.
I always log on manually but have suppressed the logon window as my username and password are saved in it. I'll switch it on to display tomorrow.

My post was slightly tongue-in-cheek as it seemed a logical impossibility as described.

You might find that for a short period you can connect to both your old provider as well as your new one. So don't assume that the new one isn't active if you find that you can still use the old one.

This happened to me when migrating from F2s to Newnet. Alas, on the stated date, when migrating from Newnet to Plusnet, curiosity got the better of me and I logged off Newnet only to be unable to log-on to either until the afternoon. I think it's best to wait for the 'you are activated' email on the activation day before trying to connect to Plusnet, just stay logged-on to your old provider that day.

Thank you for the comments on "dual connection". I didn't think that was possible with broadband.
I'll do as advised and wait until I either get the email or can't connect to current supplier.
I assume my present modem will be OK as it always displays that I'm connected at 7.4 Mbps; if it wasn't for the houses I'd be able to see the exchange.

I would expect your existing modem to be fine, just need the login credentials changing.

Migration completed today. But I was without b/band for about an hour this afternoon.
I couldn't get on to Pipex b/band to check email (username, password rejected), but their dialup was OK. Plusnet Order Tracker indicated waiting for completion, so I phoned and the connection was on about ten mins later.
Current connection is 1.9Mbps. I assume this will improve over time.
Happy to be connected now.
