PlusNet come top in another survey

[link to this post]

It appears that PlusNet have come top in another survey, this time conducted by Broadband Choices (link). This rated the top 10 UK ISPs on a number of factors including support, billing and speed.

Congrats to all the PN team

- stands back and waits for the usual complaints levelled against these kind of surveys.

Well I think the thing here is that Plusnet are back on a streak whereby they come top not just in surveys which are always at least a little meaningless, but also now by visible evidence such as reduced complaints in the wild. So congrats, but I think it's evident that BT's existance has made a difference for whatever reason at least in part too - it could be a much more scary position without this.

I don't think anyone can argue with that - The BT backing means we've been able to invest in both our products and our people more so than we could previously. There is now a much longer term view across the business, and from my perspective things are going to plan across the board.

Building up PlusNet to retain it's previous crown as the best ISP operating in our space is our goal. The result todayt is not the end of the road, but it is definitely a nice indicator that we are on the right path.

Suprisingly it gives Option 1 and Option 2 packages as 12 months contracts. Obviously a very accurate and trustworthy site

PS can you advise which Anti Virus and Firewall packages are supplied free of charge?.

Congratulations to Plusnet - they've beaten SKY which is my book is pretty impressive.

Haven't always been Plusnet's biggest fan but I can see that things have greatly improved in recent times - and they are definitely now one of the more trustworthy providers around.

I guess I'd have to be in that category of people against this kind of survey. They are always so random with a very small sample of people giving their opinion. Barely worth the time putting it together.

Also I read a fair few websites daily who give news and review on all things to do with Computers and the Internet. In all my time reading these websites I don't recall ever coming across this Broadband Choice company before now. With throws away any credibility they have. For me at least.

The best way to find out about any ISP these days is read their public forums or related forums like this TBB ones. You soon get a sense of how good an ISP they are as people will make themselves known on those forums if they are happy or unhappy.

So if you are thinking of joining Plusnet. Ignore all these meaningless survey's. Got read the Plusnet forums and base your decision on what customers of Plusnet have to say. Infinitely more useful then any survey by some random company can be.

The first I'd heard of them was the other day, when somebody complained that their speedtester wasn't working properly.

They don't look like much of an outfit, and I agree that each survey has its flaws, the regularity that kudos is being awarded at does make me have a little more faith in the cumulative nature of all the wins.

Given the other 9 contenders I would have been surprised if Plusnet had not come top.

Full story here on the Broadband Choices website. The survey was carried out by YouGov apparently.

Hi Ian,

Good to see indeed - although the chance of me using Plusnet in the future is nearly zero, it's positive to see improvement for sure.

Hopefully those who insist I am a Zen fan-boy (what a stupid term anyway) will now realise they're wrong :-)
