Why the run around just to get Interleaving Turned off.

[link to this post]

Had problems with Plusnet at the start now still getting problems, asked for Interleaving to be turned off on the 13th, got assured it was turned off but it hasn`t.

Seems to take days for tickets to be answered.

Can anyone reccomend an ISP that I can use on a BT line that don`t have these CS issues?

Willing to pay £30 a month for a decent service with 40-60 gig allowance and good for gaming??

I have no other LLU at my exchanbge :0(

If you're mostly interested in usage outside of the "peak" (9am-6pm) hours then I'd highly recommend AAISP. Very clued up staff and unless you have lots of usage during peak hours it works out at quite a reasonable pricing system for home users.

There's also Zen at £25 a month. Only a 50GB usage cap though there's no peak/off-peak hours distinction.

IDNet Home Max?

Though you would have been better asking for suggestion in Which ISP? or General Broadband Chatter tongue.

A somewhat restricted set of users in this one.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

What is hard to find on the AAISP site is that between 2am and 6am usage is metered at 1000GB/unit.

Also note that they only meter downloads (unlike Plusnet).

AFAIK these figures indicate that interleaving is effectively off. On ADSL2+ you don't appear to be able to switch to fast path, only reduce the interleaving depth to zero, which is effectively the same thing.

Hi,

I think i`m ADSL 1 as the Exchange hasn`t got ADSL 2 (I think)

My STD Code is 01449 and it runs off Rattlesden Exchange.

I missed the G.DMT, which of course indicates ADSL Max, however I still think interleaving depth of 0 indicates that it is effectively off - it's just the way your router reports it.

Damn - I spotted the G.DMT but not the Interleave Depth 0. I think you are probably right, unless that leaves Impulse Noise Protection running.

I`ve noticed no change in my ping.

I was on Fast path to start with but my homeplugs played my telephone line up so they stuck me on Interleave but now the plugs have gone and we play Xbox in the evening I really could do with a better ping,

When I was on FP I was getting pings of 20 - 25 ms. I`m currently getting 35 - 45ms.

Yes, after looking around they do seem to offer the best value for money at the moment.

I don`t have many choices living out in the sticks frown

My ping is good now smile 12-14ms so not bad at all

plusnet are pretty useless, they never care and never bothered to ask BT to turn off interleaving which it rather annoying. IDNet, Entanet, Zen and Fast Co Uk will turn off interleaved overnight of your request but IDNet always normally activated broadband with interleaving turned off.

Why can't plusnet do it and why wait for a week, month for turn interleaving off ?

Hi RuralFelsham,

Glad things have improved, if your ping increases please drop me or one of the other guys a PM with your Plusnet username and we'll take a look for you.
