Are Plusnet owned by TalkTalk or BT?
The reason why i ask is because i've just had some talktalk salesman at the door trying to flog me broadband and told me that TalkTalk have recently taken over Plusnet.

Thought soo, also had to laugh when he did a speed test said I could get up 8mb connection from my internet, when I know I can get 10mb speeds. When I told him this he said Plusnet only do up 8mb.

Here's a mention of same tactic from nearly a year ago: Link
They're obviously still at it!

In the past they have been up to all sorts of tricks (allegedly) e.g. slamming

That's strange, I also had that from door to door saleman telling me that TalkTalk is now the owners of Plusnet plc.
Can plusnet staff is that true ? I think plusnet is still the owner by British Telecom.

Hi,
We're owned by BT Retail and have been for some time.
Unfortunately TalkTalk salespeople have been trying this tactic for a while.
If you have some details of the salesperson I'd appreciate you forwarding them to me.

Of course there is always the possibility that CPW will take over BT . But they haven't done so yet.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

I do apology as the saleperson doesn't give his last name (only the first name) is Simon. He was doing this talktalk promotion to take over plusnet on doors to doors around in my area. Pretty bad for plusnet service provider trademark. Ofcom should do something about it.

... the saleperson doesn't give his last name (only the first name) is Simon. That could be as true as the rest of what he told you.

Sodding Talk Talk
Just had follow up call just now trying to get me to sign up to there broadband.
Had to tell them twice I wasn't interested.

I would hazard a guess that it is perhaps the culture of rewards that encourages staff to miss-speak.
Miss-speak... Americanism for saying something that is not true....and knowing it is not the truth.

In English: I would hazard a guess that it is perhaps the culture of rewards that encourages staff to lie.

Or to slightly misquote - " Never let the truth get in the way of a sale"

quite shocking, we just saw there is loads of talktalk salesperson knocking door by door everywhere in our area, they had knock at my door an hour ago and telling me that talktalk will take over plusnet and bt and talktalk is the best offer at the moment throw in free connection, and will guarantee 24 meg broadband and soon 40 meg FTTC for all talktalk members. I told the salesperson, if you do knock my door once more, I will inform police for harassment and misleading.
Why is ofcom and government do something about it? They shouldn't try and push everyones to sign up. Disgraceful. I got the feeling they had lost all the customers who had left talktalk over the years and try to sign up new customers to save their business more likely.
